I was watching AC 360 last night (you know with my friend Andy) and between the recent media coverage this guy is getting and the distraught woman who lost her brother at the WTC on 9/11 it's just too much. In my ideal world religion and politics would finally be truly independent of one another, but clearly that's a pipe dream.
I can't pretend to understand the pain of those who lost someone on 9/11, I didn't lose anyone. But I cannot understand the rationalization of calling the proposed building a "victory mosque" and saying that it's dishonoring the victims of 9/11. The woman who lost her brother must have said "my brother" a half a dozen times. Why does this woman only see things in terms of her own personal loss? Many, many people lost loved ones on 9/11 and I cannot believe that they all feel this way. If so, this is a terrifying country.
Furthermore, discussing Terry Jones and Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf as if they are the same caliber of public figure is disgusting. This mustache sporting A-hole is nothing but an ignorant, sociopath with a few equally sick followers, all of whom should be ignored completely. People like that breed hate and intolerance. It makes me sick, and it makes me embarrassed for my home state, and for any Americans who think their religion is greater than another, or who believe that all Muslims are terrorists etc. Organized religion in general seems to cause
Come on Florida, can't you be in the news for something good for once? Also, thanks a lot Gainesville, as if Gator fans weren't irritating enough. You should be ashamed of yourself.
On a side note, why the hell should anyone care what Angelina Jolie has to say about anything? Yes I know she's a beautiful, rich, famous actress and a UN Messenger of Peace but I am really sick of seeing her face everywhere. To me she will always be just some woman who screwed someone else's husband.
