large dog, evil cat; clean house?

If you know me at all, you have heard about Zeus our 100 lb American Bulldog. He's happy and cute and loyal and loving. He also drools and sheds and likes to roll in the mud immediately after having a bath, and he is white.

We also have a cat, Sookie, part Siamese, white. Therefore everything we own is covered in white fur. She happens to be evil. Although she has warmed up and become much more cuddly and less face attacky she has decidedly long nails and we can never get her to stay still long enough to cut them all without risking the loss of an eyeball. In the past 8 months she has ruined two bath mats, our shower curtain, a few pillows, sections of our comforter, and made two very heartbreaking scratches in my most expensive handbag. She also has a fun habit of sleeping in my closet and rolling around in my clothes. Many of my mornings are filled with furious lint rolling while she cowers under the bed.

We just got a new couch, and I want to cry every time I find a new pull. It is only a few months away from becoming just another forlorn looking frumpy lump of material.

How on earth do people keep their houses clean and their sanity intact when living with two fur festivals? I am tired.

I only laugh because I feel your pain. I've gone through 3 bottles of Nature's Miracle in the past 2 months and I have a dog that likes the taste of Bitter Apple. You need to drug Sookie and put some Soft Paws on her while she's passed out. She'll become much less formidable, trust me.
